Neither of us wanted to leave El Chaltén, we had fallen in love with the town, the mountains and had made some good friends. However, we had more to come and as Dan rightly stated “We’re going from the edge of the mountains to the heart of it” in reference to Torres del Paine, our next venture.

The bus journey back to El Calafate was uneventful and once back we opted for a late lunch. Despite everyone’s warnings not to try Argentine pizza we caved to cravings and were disappointed to find the warning had been valid! If you like your pizza with a sliver of tomato sauce and an inch thick with tasteless cheese and poorly seasoned dough then an Argentinian pizza is for you. Annoyingly, we had got one each with the thought to have the left overs for dinner. I managed to eat the rest of mine later on that day in bed for dinner white admiring the view from our window. But it was so bad that pizza lover Dan decided he would rather go hungry!
