PCT: 3 days to go

14th April 2025

Hello, we’re back!

Today we arrived in San Diego ready to begin our PCT adventure. PCT stands for the Pacific Crest Trail, a continuous walking path on the east side of USA covering the length of the country.

The trail starts in a town called Campo in California, which sits on the American-Mexican border, and finishes 2650 miles in Mannings Park, Canada. The trail is split into five sections: the desert, high sierra, Northern California, Oregon and Washington.

We are expecting this walk to take anywhere between five to six months to complete. It is also expected that we may have to skip out sections of the hike due to issues such as wild fires, injuries, trail closures, floods or high snow pack. This is simply the nature of the trail.

I will be posting daily updates again in the postcard format like I was doing for South America. However, I had some people complain that they wanted more photos and would rather a weekly format. If this is preferred, please feel free to follow my bloggers account on The Trek, a platform for long distance hikers to upload their experiences on. From my account on The Trek I’ll be uploading weekly content and more photos as requested. The written content will be very similar if not the same.

We will be starting the PCT in 3 days time. The above photo shows what gear we’ll be taking with us. That’s right, like tortoises we’ll be carrying our home on our backs. This includes food, shelter and water – everything we need to survive!
